Family Day Care National Advertising Campaign

Summary

FDCA is proud to continue its promotion of the sector in 2019-2020 through the implementation of an integrated advertising campaign.

FDCA will once again invest in a national regional television campaign during the October - January period and will also support this activity with an awareness campaign that will see family day care promotional material included in 'New Mother' Bounty Bags across Australia during this period.

Supplemental campaigns will also run throughout the year on Facebook and also on Google Search that are design to both increase awareness of family day care and also generate leads for members via the FDCA Family Day Care Locator.

Goals and Impacts (what we want to achieve and how it will make a difference to our members)

  • Raise awareness and position family day care on its unique strengths in delivering high quality early childhood education and care to support long term sector viability and growth through marketing, public relations and strategic media management.
  • Raise awareness and position family day care as a career of choice to support services in the recruitment of professional early childhood educators in areas of need and opportunity.
  • Increase the positive level of perception of family day care amongst the general public and current family day care users.
  • Increase the number of leads generated for members via FDCA's Family Day Care Locator.

Outcomes to date

  • The National Regional television campaign commenced in October and will continue through to January 2020.
  • Bounty Bag campaign commenced in November and will run until the end of January 2020.
  • Reached over 200,000 people through Facebook advertising during the July - November period of 2019.
  • Generated more than 17,000 interactions through Google Search advertising.
  • Has assisted in generating over 4,500 leads for FDCA members via FDCA's Family Day Care Locator during the July - December period of 2019.

Excellence in Family Day Care Awards

Summary

During 2019-2020, FDCA’s Excellence in Family Day Care Awards has continued to play a crucial role in FDCA’s public relations strategy. The Excellence in Family Day Care Awards have gone from strength to strength and are responsible for generating large amounts of positive media attention for the family day care sector.

The 2019 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards saw the introduction of a new major award category with the Coordinator of the Year implemented to recognise the vital role that coordinators play both in family day care services and in supporting educators to provide inclusive and nurturing education and care environments for children.

The annual awards program also continues to highlight the wonderful work done in the sector by family day care educators and services across the entire country.

Outcomes

  • Over 5,000 nominations placed across all categories (eclipsing the previous record of 3,210 set in 2017).
  • A record number of submissions placed by educators with 794 submissions entered.
  • Winners announced across all categories, including:
  • 68 regional educator winners
  • six star award winners (2 from each category)
  • 12 national finalists (4 from each category)
  • 3 national winners
  • Over 100 positive media stories published across Australia.
  • Media generated reached over 545,000 people.

National Family Day Care Week

Summary


National Family Day Care Week is an ongoing initiative that continues to play a key role in raising the image and profile of family day care.

The annual celebrations provide an opportunity for FDCA and the sector to highlight the many unique benefits of family day care and position it as a high quality, flexible early childhood education and care option for families.

In 2020, National Family Day Care Week will be held from May 4-10 and all those involved in the family day care sector will be encouraged to hold their own National Family Day Care Week Picnic as a way of celebrating family day care.

FDCA will also hold its annual National Family Day Care Week Picnic in the Park in 2020, with two picnics to again be held the Perth region of Western Australia onFriday, 8 May 2020.

Since its inception, FDCA's Family Day Care Locator has generated more than 25,000 direct leads for FDCA members.

As part of your FDCA membership you will receive a FREE listing on the locator and you will be able to customise your listing a photo and vacancy information.

Media Assistance Program

Do you have a story to tell? FDCA's Media Assistance Program continues to help members reach out to local media organisations and not only tell their story but promote family day care at the same time.
