Productivity Commission ECEC inquiry: call for submissions

The Productivity Commission has called for submissions for its inquiry into Australia’s early childhood education and care (ECEC) system.

Initial submissions are due by 19 May 2023 and can be made through the Productivity Commission website. The Commission will also seek submissions after it releases its draft report in late November 2023.

You can also make a brief comment at any time.

The inquiry will make recommendations to support affordable, accessible, equitable and high-quality ECEC that reduces barriers to workforce participation and supports children’s learning and development.

The inquiry began on 1 March 2023. The Commission will provide its final report to the Australian Government by 30 June 2024.

For questions about the inquiry, and how to participate visit the Productivity Commission website or email childhood@pc.gov.au.

FDCA has commenced engagement with the Productivity Commission ahead of making a formal submission through the provision of sector-specific data and will be reaching out to members to assist in informing our submission in due course.

Approved learning frameworks printed hardcopies are available for purchase from ACECQA

Following the process to refresh the two approved national learning frameworks, updated versions of both were released in early 2023 as free downloads from ACECQA’s website.

ACECQA has now advised that printed hardcopies may also be purchased from their website here. The sale price of $30 +GST per copy includes delivery to any address across Australia.

Approved providers and their services are now encouraged to begin familiarising themselves with the updated learning frameworks and adjusting relevant aspects of their educational program and practice where needed to reflect new or amended aspects of the frameworks.

The original national learning frameworks will remain in operation alongside the updated Frameworks, until early 2024, to enable approved providers and their services time to transition to the updated learning frameworks.
