About the Trial

The Family Day Care Capability Trial (“the Trial”) is funded by the Australian Government, facilitated by Family Day Care Australia (FDCA), and recognises the capacity of family day care to cater for the diverse education and care needs of children and families. It also highlights family day care's ability to deliver local employment opportunities and address the needs of regional communities with limited early childhood education and care (ECEC) supply.

One component of the Trial is the provision of educator start-up funding for a limited number of eligible new family day care educators in identified regional areas* of limited ECEC supply across Australia. This component of the Trial will focus on the viability of supply targeted start-up funding for new family day care educators in these areas and assess the potential impact on communities.

Eligible new educators will work with selected approved family day care services who will provide professional support and offer ongoing guidance through home visits, training, and mentoring to ensure you stay current in your skills and provide high-quality care to children.
