Nominations for the 2026 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards have closed.
Family Day Care Australia would like to thank everyone who placed a nomination and helped take this year's nomination total to over 4,200 nominations!
The third and final round of nominations will released on Monday 6 July, will all nominees to be notified and added to nomination lists on this date.
Well done to all those who have been nominated and recognised for the extraordinary contributions you make every day that enrich the lives of children and families nationwide.
Nominees have until 19 July 2026 to complete a supporting submission. Good luck everyone!
The educator awards recognise up to 75 regional winners from across the country and it will be from these regional winners that four national finalists will be selected.
One national finalist will be selected from each of the following zones:
These four national finalists will be invited to the Family Day Care Australia Excellence in Family Day Care Awards Gala Dinner, at which the Educator of the Year will be selected.
The Family Day Care Australia Excellence in Family Day Care Awards are the only national awards dedicated entirely to the family day care sector. Through the awards program we hope to acknowledge and share the touching stories about the amazing bonds shared between family day care educators, services and the families they work with.
In sharing these stories, we will build awareness of the wonderful and vital role that family day care plays in local communities around Australia. The awards will also recognise and honour individual educators, coordinators and services for the amazing contribution they make to the community.
During the nomination period families, coordinators and services are invited to nominate their educator via a simple online nomination form. Educators are advised of their nomination via email and are invited to make a supporting submission about how they meet the selection criteria.

Regional winners and national finalists in each category are selected by an official FDCA selection committee of which the members have extensive experience in the family day care sector.
Once the submission deadline has passed, a number of judging phases take place in the lead up to the announcement of the Excellence in Family Day Care Awards National Winners. Throughout the judging period, the selection committee will review nominations and supporting submissions, and will select regional winners (for educators only), national finalists and a national winner in each award category.
