Upcoming changes to CCS for families

On 10 December 2021, the Australian Federal Government is removing the annual cap for all families who get Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

Families earning more than $190,015 currently have an annual subsidy cap of $10,655 per child each financial year.

CCS will also increase for families with more than one child in care from 7 March 2022. Family Day Care Australia will communicate more information on this increase in the New Year.

Early childhood providers and families will not need to do anything for the changes to occur.

You can learn more these changes about on the Department of Education, Skills and Employment’s website:

Family Day Care Australia 2021 Membership Survey

Yesterday FDCA members were emailed an invitation to take part in our 2021 Membership Survey.  The email was sent by Survey Matters, an independent research firm that has been engaged to collect responses on behalf of FDCA so that you can be sure that your feedback will remain confidential.

We are inviting members to participate in the survey in order to have your input provided into our 2022-2024 Strategic Plan.

As a member-driven organisation, your contribution to the development of FDCA’s strategic goals and objectives is critical to the delivery of our mission.

By completing our 2021 Membership Survey, you’ll be a part of shaping our future initiatives, events and resources to represent, support and promote our members and the family day care sector across Australia.

Members who complete the survey will also go into the draw to win 1 of 5 free, full registration tickets to the FDCA 2022 National Conference, taking place in Hobart from 15-17 September 2022.

Create your own adventure with the launch of FDCA’s E-Book!

Inspired by our members and their families, FDCA has developed a brand-new electronic storybook (E-Book) narrating a child’s first day of family day care!

The E-Book is designed to support the transition of children into care and showcase the natural approach to play and discovery that family day care nurtures.

FDCA members will be able to access, create and download as many versions of the E-Book as they would like, free of charge from any desktop device*

Members will also be able to customise the names of the E-Book’s main characters, including the main child, the parent, the educator and the name of the family day care, to make the story personal to your children.

This level of customisation means that you can create a new E-Book for each child in your care, or create an E-Book for new children arriving in your care to share with their family!

Alongside the ability to choose the character names, the use of well-known Australian native animals in the illustrations will allow a wide range of readers to “step into the shoes” of their character and follow along with the adventure!

How to use the E-Book

“My Family” Day Care is available to access through your FDCA Member Zone, under the subheading E-Book.

To customise and download your very own copy of “My Family” Day Care, refer to our “How to” video here.

We hope you enjoy reading “My Family” Day Care as much as we enjoyed producing it for you!

Workshop presenters

In 2022, FDCA members will be able to take advantage of joint educator and service sessions, giving teams the chance to come together and share in the benefits of workshops uniquely tailored to the family day care environment.

Joining representatives from FDCA will be Red Nose Australia and Australian Child Care Career Options (ACCCO).

Red Nose Australia will deliver a “Safe sleeping for family day care” workshop, with ACCCO facilitating a presentation on “Child Protection: a family day care focused approach”.

Both workshops will have an emphasis on the role of services and educators, providing valuable insights for all participants and a holistic approach to child safety.

Attendees will receive a certificate for each workshop in acknowledgement of the learning experience.

Refreshments across the day and an official Networking Lunch will also be included, alongside an exclusive presentation from FDCA on our 2021-2022 Member Initiatives.
