First Aid Qualification Currency Requirements

Changes to the regulatory requirements on 1st October 2023 prescribed the necessary currency periods for first aid qualifications. Approved Providers have until 1st April 2024 to undertake any necessary training to ensure first aid qualifications, anaphylaxis and asthma management training are current.

The following qualifications are considered current if attained or training was undertaken within the past three years:

Approved first aid qualifications

  • Approved anaphylaxis management training
  • Approved emergency asthma management training

A qualification relating to emergency life support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) must be completed within the previous year to be considered current.

Certificates should indicate the course completion date and may also include recommendations for refresher training. Certificates may contain multiple units of competency, however currency periods apply to each individual unit.
