2020 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards - Nominations open next week!

FDCA is excited to announce that nominations for the Excellence in Family Day Care Awards will open next week on 20 July!

It’s been a challenging start to 2020 but in the face of these challenges the family day care sector has stepped up in support of children, families and communities across Australia.

Professional practice, relationships, flexibility and innovation are fundamental underpinnings of quality in family day care, and are also essential criteria right across our Awards program.

Importantly, these unique characteristics of family day care have also supported the strength and resilience of the sector over recent months.

To kick off the 2020 Awards celebrations, we’re inviting you to share photos that represent these unique elements of family day care on our Facebook page.

FDCA will create a collage with these photos and screen them throughout the Awards Gala Dinner. We will also select 5 lucky FDCA members that share photos and they will win a ticket to the Awards Gala Dinner to be held in South Australia on 21 November 2020. To share your photos, click here and post your photos in the comments.

Entries close at noon (AEST) on Friday, 17 July. Winners will be contacted by Facebook direct message.

DESE to release updated guidance on educator JobKeeper due to confusion

As many members are aware, there has been much confusion relating to the JobKeeper eligibility status of family day care educators of services in receipt of the Transition Payment grant; a result of unclear and contradictory communications from the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE).

After weeks of daily contact with DESE and the Australian Tax Office (ATO) in relation to this matter FDCA has demanded that DESE expedites clear and consistent guidance on the matter. DESE have advised that this work is being undertaken.

As soon as the guidance is made available we will share it with our members.

Transition Overview document released by the Australian Government

As members are aware, the ECEC Relief Package ended on 12 July. Accordingly, on Monday 13 July, the Australian Government released a new transition overview document to support providers with the transition from the ECEC Relief Package to Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Transition Payments. This document outlines key dates and activities during transition and into next year. This may be a useful reference guide for you and your families over the next few months.

The Department continues to update their FAQs, so please continue to check www.dese.gov.au/covid-19/childcare/childcare-faq to ensure you are accessing the latest information. If you receive questions from families, encourage them to visit the Services Australia website.
