NT and QLD Regional Educator Winners announced - 2020 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards
Following the extraordinary 5,600 nominations and the announcement of our ACT and NSW Regional Educator Winners, Family Day Care Australia (FDCA) is excited to reveal our second round of winners in the 2020 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards!
Congratulations to all 11 of our NT and QLD Regional Educator Winners. We continue to be amazed by the incredible work of our winners and applaud the support they provide each and every day to children and families in their communities.
Our NT and QLD Regional Educator Winners were posted to our Facebook page yesterday and you can also view the list of winners on the FDCA website at this time.
The NT and QLD Regional Educator Winners will now go into the running to be named as the NT/QLD National Educator Finalist.
2020 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards Calendar
Over the next two weeks, FDCA will announce the remaining Regional Educator Winners from around Australia. These announcements will be made as follows:
- TAS/VIC Regional Educator Winners - 27 October 2020
- SA/WA Regional Educator Winners - 2 November 2020
Following the Regional Educator Winner announcements, we will reveal the winners of our Star Awards, National Finalists and National Winners on the dates below:
- Star Award Winners - 17 November 2020
- National Finalists - 7 December 2020
- National Winners - 27 February 2021
As the only national event of its kind, the 2020 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards are an important opportunity to highlight the unique benefits of the family day care home learning environment, and position family day care as the natural choice for quality early childhood education and care. FDCA would like to commend all of our nominees in the 2020 Awards and thank everyone who has participated.

FDCA Member-Elected Director voting now open
FDCA is pleased to announce that the voting period for a member-elected Director position on our Board is now open.
FDCA’s Board of Directors focus on the effective governance of the organisation, including strategic direction, finance, compliance, and risk management. Some of the responsibilities of the Board include:
- Crafting the mission, vision and values of the organisation;
- Reviewing financial statements, approving the budget and ensuring that the financial assets of the organisation are safeguarded and used appropriately; and
- Monitoring progress towards the achievement of goals and objectives set out in the strategic plan.
The collaborative and performance-driven culture of the Board of Directors reflects FDCA’s commitment to best practice and continuous improvement as your peak national body.

In accordance with FDCA’s constitution and the Board Director Nomination and Election Standing Order of the Board, the election campaign will be conducted by an online voting ballot, where current financial members of FDCA are eligible to place a single vote for the vacant position.

Book Week 2020 - Curious Creatures, Wild Minds
Friday 16 October to Friday 23 October is National Book Week, an annual event celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators.
The event has been running since 1945 and is organised by The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA), a not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation which aims to engage the community with literature for young Australians.
Across the years, a number of family day care educators and services have taken part in the event. This year, we encourage our members to explore the theme of “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds” and the ways in which literature can inspire creativity in children (and children at heart!).

How do I manage my Family Day Care Locator listing?
To manage your Family Day Care Locator listing, all you need to do is log in to your FDCA Member Zone and select "My Locator Listing". Inside your Locator Listing you will be able to:
- Update your Location Name (the name of your business as displayed on the locator)
- Upload a photo to your listing
- Update your vacancy information
- Enable or disable your locator listing
How can I access my Family Day Care Locator Enquiries?
To access your Family Day Care Locator enquiries, log in to your FDCA Member Zone and select "Locator Enquiries".
This will allow you to view a summary of your recent enquiries. You can review the details of each individual enquiry by clicking on the 'View' link for that enquiry, which will allow you to view the full message that was sent.
It is important to note that contact details are sent to the family day care service.

How will I know when I receive an enquiry from the Family Day Care Locator?
When you receive a new enquiry from the Family Day Care Locator, an email will be sent to your registered email address. This will contain a link that will take you straight to your FDCA Member Zone so that you can view the enquiry.
We also recommend that services regularly check both the "My Enquiries" and "Educator Enquiries" tabs inside their FDCA Member Zone to ensure that they don't miss any family day care enquiries.
What if I haven't activated my FDCA Member Zone?
To access your FDCA Member Zone, follow these five simple steps:
- Click here to activate your free account (for the best experience, use the latest Chrome browser)
- Enter your registered email address
- An email will then be sent to your email address; click on the 'create password' button
- Create and confirm your password
- Click here to log in and enter your FDCA Member Zone.
