ACECQA updates Guide to the National Quality Framework

The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) has made a number of amendments to the Guide to the National Quality Framework (NQF), including updated guidance on the Exceeding Quality Standard rating, new regulations around the safe transportation of children, and expanded insurance compliance requirements (further information on these requirements can be found in today’s bulletin).

You can access the updated Guide to the NQF on the ACECQA website, along with a summary table of all guidance changes.

REMINDER: New requirements under the National Regulations – Transportation of children

A reminder that from 1 October 2020, in accordance with recent amendments to the National Regulations, services that offer, or arrange, the transportation of children will be required to have in place transportation-specific policies and procedures.

Although these changes are designed around transportation other than as part of an excursion, minor corresponding changes relating to excursions that involve transporting children will also take effect.

FDCA encourages members to carefully read the information contained in this ACECQA fact sheet to ensure compliance with the new requirements. It is important to note that, while it may be possible for a service to adapt existing policies or procedures in order to cover the new requirements for risk assessments and authorisations, these new requirements differ from existing requirements.

ACECQA has published a Transportation Risk Assessment Template on their website to assist service providers and educators to make the necessary modifications to their existing policies and procedures.

Perspectives on Quality, critical reflection resource

FDCA encourages our members to explore the Perspectives on Quality in Australian Family Day Care resource, available through the FDCA Professional Learning Portal.

The reflection tool consists of five videos and contains interviews with educators and coordination unit staff on the following five areas:

  • Professional practice;
  • Relationships;
  • Flexibility;
  • Diversity and social support; and
  • Autonomy.

Each video is accompanied by guidance modules and a number of reflective questions for you to complete. The modules demonstrate and expand upon each of the five areas.

Educators will also be able to download a certificate of completion for their own or their service's professional development records.

To start using the FDCA Professional Learning Portal, login to your FDCA Member Dashboard and click on the "Professional Learning Portal" button on the left.

Following a wrap on our 12-month payment plan, FDCA is excited to present our members with an exclusive 10-month payment plan for the FDCA 2021 National Conference.

This new payment plan has been developed to provide our members with flexibility, and allows the purchase of conference tickets with 10 payments of $62.40.

The 10-month payment plan will be available for members to access up until 30 November 2020.

Full ticket refunds available to members until 28 July 2021.

We are mindful that for many, committing to the purchase of a conference ticket is a big decision. To support our members to attend, we are committed to offering full refunds to all members up until 28 July 2021.

This means that you can purchase your ticket with the knowledge that you will be able to get a full refund before 28 July 2021.
