NAIDOC Week 2021 - Heal Country

NAIDOC celebrations are being held in family day care homes across the country this week to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The theme for 2021 is 'Heal Country', which calls for stronger measures to maintain, recognise and protect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritage.

NAIDOC is celebrated by Australians from all walks of life.

We encourage all of our members to participate in NAIDOC week and support their local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Provider eligible enrolments for ACCS have ended

On 30 June 2021, all active Provider Eligible Additional Child Care Subsidy (child wellbeing (ACCS) enrolments ended in the Australian Government Child Care Subsidy System.

Services that have children enrolled under this type must create new enrolments under a Complying Written Arrangement or a Provider Eligible Arrangement from 1 July 2021.

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has more information on children enrolled under ACCS and how to register these enrolments in the new financial year.

Real educators, great insurance

FDCA insurance offers protection for educators and services when they need it most. But don’t just take it from us! Find out how we helped a real member save thousands below.

Incident: a parent slipped on the driveway of an educator’s house when collecting her child from family day care, hurting her ankle. The parent was transported to hospital where the ankle was found to be broken

Claim Amount: $80,000

The initial claim received by the educator totalled $150K for general damages, medical care and future expenses.

FDCA investigated the incident and settled on a shared liability with the home owner’s insurer to settle the claim. The educator paid nil excess.

The result? Being able to get back to the important job of providing quality education and care without stress or financial burden.
